Hello there!
I’ve decided to start posting episodes of my weekly SiriusXM show, The Shaun Proulx Show, here. I hope you enjoy.
Lots going on, lots to get to on this episode.
Dom Vallie is on at the tail end of the show, the rising Canadian hip-hop artist has been nominated for Rap Album of the Year at the prestigious 2025 JUNO Awards, cementing his place as one of the most creative voices in modern hip-hop. The recognition comes after his breakthrough success, with his innovative sound and dynamic storytelling catching the attention of both fans and critics alike.
We’re going to to North Carolina this episode, too. Imagine: It’s the great depression and a young black boy whose family is killed by the Ku Klux Klan is taken in by a local dairy farmer who finds him hiding in his barn. The farmer raises the boy alongside his own white son, and the two boys come to view themselves as brothers, navigating the Jim Crow era in the rural South. The author of a new book about it - this is his family we’re talking bout - comes on to tell us more.
Brian Gable. If you ever read the Globe and Mail, you know his work. He was at the newspaper beginning in 1987 as their political cartoonist, won many awards, and has focused his talents on a tribute to Toronto in a new book called Toronto: A Sketchy History. Now don’t tune out if you’re one of those Canadians who doesn’t like Toronto - Gable is critical of the city’s flaws and faults too.
But first let’s go to the UK, where waiting for us is a man who’s been called the most hated man in Britain. In fact, there’s even been a documentary about him, called Hating Peter Tatchell.
Have a listen.
