To confused straight people: Yes, we’ve gone and re-arranged the alphabet on you,

The SS stands for two-spirited, and appears first now because we finally realized that Indigenous people came first and they therefore shouldn’t be tacked onto the end of our acronym like an afterthought. (That did take us a while though.)

So happy Pride to you. I hope it’s joyful and magical, packed with meaning and maybe some fun with an out of town stranger.

To the homophobes, the biphobes, the transphobes, Happy Pride to you too, may you all have a very uncomfortable month. Remember: You are the ACTUAL reason why the Pride celebrations you detest are still needed and still going strong.

You picked a great episode to tune into today. BAYLA is coming up at the tail end of the show, she’s got a new song called ‘Anxious’ that’s a real ear worm - we’ll play a little of it for you when BAYLA joins us.

And I know today this seems odd, but I can still recall vividly at time when gay people couldn’t have kids.

Unheard of. Against the law. Queer people as parents made some people sick to their stomach.

We have a guest coming on soon, who grew up wanting to be a Dad - in that time period, when it was impossible - and during the AIDS crisis at that.

He has written a memoir about his quest to fight the odds and become a parent - this will be a story about his struggles to do so, but it’s also a bigger story that will inspire YOU to follow your fondest dreams.

And once upon a time, along with queers not being allowed to have kids, there were also rules about who you could legally openly reside with. On this episode another author joins us to share her story of two women struggling for a chance at love and sanctuary in a world that’s against them.

Oh the memories of the way we were.

But up first, let’s throw a party girl! Edward Perotti is a luxury event designer specializing in creating immersive, stylish events that feel both elevated and accessible, with clients the likes of Arianna Grande. He’s joins me first to share his tips and tricks for your Pride party - the one everyone wishes they were invited to.

Enjoy the listen.
