The Shaun Proulx Show - April 5, 2025

Guests: EGALE's Jennifer Boyce, shaman Ofer Niv, Juno-winning Simone Denny

It’s the weekend, it’s the weekend, happy happy joy joy - glad you’re here. Have you heard about how the James Bond franchise was sold to Amazon? Just in February, In a significant shake-up for the film industry, Amazon MGM Studios gained creative control of the James Bond franchise from long-time producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, ending a family legacy that spanned over six decades. It means that all the hands-on work that Broccoli and Wilson did, all the creative control they had, all the things that made Bond so special, from casting Bond himself to story - anything you liked about Bond are now in the hands of a studio that really only exists to make you go shop online at the Amazon store. So it will be interesting to see how this pans out. I predict: hot glue gun mess.

One of the key components of any Bond film is the theme song, and who gets to sing it. Our special guest today is the multiple Juno-winning Billboard chart-topping Simone Denny, who happens to also be a dear friend. Ahead of a new album, she’s dropped the first single, a James Bond cover. Not going to say which one, you’ll have to guess. So: fans of Love Inc. and BKS, for whom Simone was front woman, stay tuned, we’ve got a superstar coming your way.

And riddle me this: What if feeling drained, overwhelmed, and constantly on edge isn’t just a sign of burnout, but a sign that your life force energy is being depleted at a deeper level? Chronic exhaustion, anxiety, and emotional heaviness often stem from unresolved trauma, inherited patterns, and unseen energetic interferences that keep you stuck in cycles of depletion. These hidden forces create subconscious blocks that drain vitality, making it difficult to feel truly rested or restored, no matter how much sleep you get or how many self-care rituals you try. Energetic healer Ofer Niv is back. He’s going to help us reclaim our energy with two practices any one can enjoy.

But up first: Canada goes to the polls April 28th, with two Albertans wrestling for the job of Prime Minister. Every election issue - the economy, health, housing, labour, senior and youth issues - affects 2SLGBTQI communities, more than you might think. That’s why it’s essential for queer experiences to be understood in elections at every level.

Leading advocacy group Egale Canada has launched Vote with Pride ahead of the upcoming federal election. Vote with Pride aims to increase awareness about the ways in which election issues are 2SLGBTQI issues. Here to help us understand more is Director of Communications & Marketing, Jennifer Boyce.

Enjoy the listen.
