Far too many people I know are ending up in this situation. It’s heartbreaking to see and there is so little I can do for them. Aside from providing occasional shelter and hot meals , it’s overwhelming to see just how little it does to resolve each persons ongoing struggle.
Thanks for writing this. It’s a serious issue that is getting worse each da. Compassion , willingness to help and be voice at the time we choose our municiplevrepredrntstives is more critical now than ever.
Thank you Shaun for sharing your heart wrenching story. Your friend Aaron is one of the few lucky ones in the end, in that he has a good friend like you and a family back East that clearly loves him and is helping him. So many unhoused, or people teetering on the edge, have no one who gives a damn about them. In a city so rich as Toronto it is a criminal shame that more is not being done to help people who are struggling with housing, mental and drug addiction. “Toronto the Good”, in my eyes has long lost that title and should be known now as ‘Toronto the Uncaring”
